Pigne di Santo Stefano double ended cufflinks in 9ct yellow gold with small and medium pine cones. inspired on the Pine cones decorating the balconies of Sicily (as a symbol of immortality) and made in Santo Stefano di Camastra near the great Norman cathedral of Cefalu. These pinecones in ceramic have been made by the Piscitello family since 1683. From the Journey to Sicily.

The larger face of the cufflinks measures approximately 15mm in diameter, and the other measures approximately 10mm.

Pigne

The ceramic pinecones that decorate each balcony on the island of Ortigia, symbolise the immortality that has carried this city through centuries of conquest. For my jewel, I took the outline of these pinecones and made it an open golden lattice, wherein I could occasionally set diamonds. As pendant or earrings, they remind me of balconies throughout the Emerald Isle of Sicily.
