The shippo pattern is a Japanese pattern where circles overlap, symbolising eternal happiness. Cassandra decided to recreate the shippo pattern as a halo to encircle her stud earrings. The pattern is found carved or lacquered on wood as well as engraved into metal or painted on ceramics, but Cassandra has never seen the interpretation of it as a three-dimensional design as in her halos. For the Japanese, the shippo pattern represents the seven jewel treasure of Buddhism that is set with:
1)Gold
2)Silver
3)Pearl
4) Coral
5)Crystal
6)Agate
7) Lapis
So by placing one of these stones as the stud in her Shippo halos there is a link back to Japanese tradition. From the journey to Japan.
Shippo halo earrings in 9ct yellow gold set with Theresa smoky quartz 1.45cts. studs. Each earring measures approximately 14mm. These earrings are part of Cassandra's interchangeable collection.
Cassandra herself designs all her jewels and works closely with her stone cutters and craftsmen throughout the process from design through to creation including on her bespoke projects.
Ever in search of the unusual and rare, Cassandra travels the world to source beautiful gemstones, either in the rough or cut form.
The craftsman works as an artist recreating the design in metal. The jewel is then mounted, assayed, polished and set.
