Near Mexico City, the Aztecs were growing maize and grinding it with a metate. I admired these circular stones with their deep grooves and sketched them as an earring with pear shaped stones, hanging from them, like small sparkling pieces of corn.
From the Latin for grain 'granatum' -because of its rounded crystals and similarity to the red pomegranate seeds. The scientist in Cassandra has always been fascinated by this isomorphous series that gives rise to gems that are from colourless through all colours of the rainbow. With the power to give eternal happiness, health and wealth when worn it is not surprising that Kings and Queens have often worn garnets throughout history.
All Cassandra Goad Jewellery is designed and made in our workshops in London.
Ever in search of the unusual and rare, Cassandra travels the world to source beautiful gemstones, either in the rough or cut form.
The craftsman works as an artist recreating the design in metal. The jewel is then mounted, assayed, polished and set.
