Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera's on/off love affair is legendary. They filled their life with a dramatic love and exotic colours, painting self portraits and murals that told the story of Mexico. Diego - like any good Mexican - loved his food, so Frida would take him his lunch, beautifully prepared, everyday in a basket. Last of all she covered the basket with a napkin embroidered with 'Mi amor'. Cassandra wanted to capture their love story in a jewel, so she created a golden basket with a handle across the top and placed carefully set jewels inside.
Frida Amethyst earrings on silver with Astrea hoops. These earrings, including hoops, measure approximately 24mm These earrings are part of Cassandra's interchangeable collection.
Cassandra herself designs all her jewels and works closely with her stone cutters and craftsmen throughout the process from design through to creation including on her bespoke projects.
Ever in search of the unusual and rare, Cassandra travels the world to source beautiful gemstones, either in the rough or cut form.
The craftsman works as an artist recreating the design in metal. The jewel is then mounted, assayed, polished and set.
