Frida Kahlo, Diego River and their on-off love affair is legendary. Diego, like any good Mexican loved his food, so Frida would take him his lunch, beautifully prepared, everyday in a basket. I wanted to capture their story in a jewel, so I created a golden basket, with a handle across the top and I placed, carefully, set jewels inside: blue topaz, citrines and tourmalines and more.

Famed for its regal deep purple colour, February's birthstone is said to enhance your focus and open your mind to critical thinking and clarity, and to also protect from inebriation. It is often worn by bishops set in a ring. Most are sourced from alluvial deposits in Brazil, Madagascar, Zambia and Uruguay, and Cassandra likes to juxtapose their splendour with rubies and aquamarine, or even green African garnets.
