Frida earring pendants in 18ct white gold set with a pair of facetted blue zircons and pave set with diamonds, to hang off 18ct white gold diamond Astrea hoops. The design echoes a basket rich with jewels. It was Lupe (Marin) who showed Frida (Kahlo) how to take lunch to Diego (Rivera) in a basket in the same way Mexican campesinos take their husband's lunch to them in the fields. From the Journey to Mexico.
*Astrea Hoops are sold separately.
The Frida design is part of the 'Ola Mexicana' collection - inspired from Cassandra's travels to Mexico. This design is based on the basket that Frida Kahlo, the Mexican artist and wife of Diego Rivera, often used to take him his lunch in while working on his murals. For Frida her delicious lunch was her 'jewel', for Cassandra her baskets contain gemstones - aquamarine, kyanite, citrine - to name a few . Wrapped in a gold or silver ' basket ', the handle can be set with diamonds. The Frida and Frida Fringe designs include necklace pendants (interchangeable with earring pendants), earrings and cufflinks. Bespoke designs can be discussed in store with Cassandra 's team.
All Cassandra Goad jewellery is designed and made in the
workshops in London.
As a gemmologist, the chemical composition and properties of
gemstones have always fascinated Cassandra. Ever in search of the
unusual and rare, she travels the world to source beautiful
gemstones, either in the rough or cut form. The craftsman works as
an artist recreating the design in metal, his interpretation is
vital to the overall feel of the jewel. The jewel is then mounted,
assayed , polished and set. Many of Cassandra's jewels can be hand
engraved with a personal message to make a unique bespoke gift.
