Ozymanidas 18ct yellow gold ring rub over set with amethyst, garnet and pink tourmaline between two bands of gold with diamonds. Seemingly straightforward in design this ring is complex to create with the added challenge of my passion for unusual (and therefore often difficult to set and work with) stones. This ring is about shades and hues of colour, every stone has been specially cut and then selected by me. The title of the great poem by Shelley, 'Ozymandias' : 'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings; Look on my works ye Mighty and despair!' inspired this design from my trip to Egypt in 2006. Ozymandias seemed equally appropriate for my majestic multicoloured ring.

Ozymandias

The regal and bold Ozymandias design with its vibrant trios of facetted stones was inspired by the great poem of Shelley that he wrote soon after part of a statue of King Rameses II (Ozymandias inGreek) was found: 'My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings.' Cassandra's rings of iolites, amethyst and blue topaz lie set in bold tomb-like settings with aquartet of diamonds and outer bands that echo pillars of the Egyptian temples at Thebes

Yellow Gold

Gold is a metal that Cassandra loves to work with, it takes a wonderful pátina with time. Cassandra has the skill of knowing which carat, strength and durability of gold to use, where stone setting is concerned, so that jewels last and look beautiful for generations. Sourcing gold and other metals responsibly from people who have the same ethical vision as herself is particularly important, and she regularly encourages transformations from old unworn jewels in to new sparkling pieces. When receiving jewels from Cassandra Goad, you can be assured that only the highest quality gold is being used.

Amethyst

Amethyst traditionally worn to instil a sober and serious mind, is the stone worn by bishops, the colour echoing their purple robes. Alluvial deposits in Brazil, Madagascar, Zambia and Uruguay are the source of most amethyst, the birthstone for February. Cassandra likes to juxtapose it with rubies and aquamarine or green African garnets.

Craftsmanship and Sourcing

All Cassandra Goad jewellery is designed and made in the workshops in London.
As a gemmologist, the chemical composition and properties of gemstones have always fascinated Cassandra. Ever in search of the unusual and rare, she travels the world to source beautiful gemstones, either in the rough or cut form. The craftsman works as an artist recreating the design in metal, his interpretation is vital to the overall feel of the jewel. The jewel is then mounted, assayed , polished and set. Many of Cassandra's jewels can be hand engraved with a personal message to make a unique bespoke gift.

Egypt

Roses have been known since ancient times and Cleopatra is said to have prepared her barge with rose petals' before meeting Anthony... the Rose designs were inspired both by Cassandra's love of roses and this epic story. Reading the story of Lord Carnarvon, the Rosetta stone, of Champollion and his race to read the hieroglyphics, the Alice letters were born- now a well loved jewel of Cassandra's Classic Collection.
