Cassandra's Crosses

I flew to the other end of Europe where two continents meet. To a city that bridges the gap - Constantinople, the ancient city of Christendom.

Each morning I walked from Sogukcesme Sokak, a street in the Sultanahmet to the city's treasures that inspired the start of the Turkish collection.

Kariye Cross...

The Turkish Collection would not be complete without a cross, so I have designed a simple cross, Kariye.

I was inspired by the medieval Byzantine Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Saviour in Chora (Kariye in Turkish). The interior is covered with some of the oldest and finest surviving Byzantine mosaics and frescoes.
