Cassandra was walking around the V&A Musuem in London when she came across a cabinet that had an Indian Marriage necklace enclosed within it. Also known as a Thalli, these were once presented as part of a dowry and dated back to around the late 19th Century. The golden pods immediately caught Cassandra's eye, proudly standing out against the black silk cord, so thickly woven it looked like rope. Cassandra loved how many of these golden amulets were used to adorn the necklace - their distinctive shapes and textures representing exotic spices, fruits and seeds. The craftsman works as an artist recreating the design in metal. The jewel is then mounted, assayed, polished and set.
