A Guide to Charm Bracelets

Charm bracelets are among the most sentimental and expressive jewels to wear. Worn for thousands of years as symbols of luck, protection and identity, they have long celebrated life’s milestones - from ancient talismans to Victorian keepsakes marking births, travels, weddings and anniversaries. Today, they appeal to all ages for their storytelling nature and artistry. Whether you build one slowly over the years or begin with a complete story from the start, each charm becomes a small gallery of your life on the wrist and a beautiful way of keeping your memories close.
This guide explains how to choose the right bracelet, how to build your charm story and how our boutique team can support you in creating a bespoke design.
How do I choose the right charm bracelet?
1. How often will the bracelet be worn?
For everyday wear, bracelets such as the Belcher Oval or Correo offer a clean, versatile look. If you prefer a more expressive style, the Star Anise or Epiphany bracelets provide a slightly bolder foundation for building a charm story.
2. How do you want the story to begin?
Some begin with one charm and build over time. Others prefer a narrative bracelet such as the La France Art charm bracelet, which already brings together a curated story of French inspiration.
3. Which metal suits the wearer’s taste?
If you are gifting the bracelet, it helps to look at what they already wear daily. Yellow gold gives warmth, richness and a classic finish. Silver feels bright, fresh and relaxed - ideal for younger wearers.
How do I choose charms for a charm bracelet?
Choosing charms is where the bracelet becomes uniquely yours. Collections often develop around themes. Discover our charm bracelet gifting ideas below.
Curating a Charm Bracelet
You can start with a travel-inspired medallion, then add a St Christopher pendant or fish charm for luck as they step into their next chapter - a keepsake they can carry wherever they go.
You can combine a bespoke silhouette of children with a Talya birthstone pendant, then include an engraved pebble disc with names or birthdates. A heart charm at the centre brings the story together and allows it to grow year after year.
Choose a medallion that represents a shared memory - perhaps a botanical motif like a rose, inspired by wedding flowers or a symbol linked to a meaningful place. Add Alice initials to represent the couple, alongside an engraved Nadia pendant to mark the sentiment of the moment.
Build a bracelet inspired by favourite destinations. Beginning with a travel medallion such as palm trees, a lighthouse or a cultural motif, then add symbolic charms to reflect past journeys and future places still to be explored.
Can charm bracelets be personalised or made bespoke?
Yes, of course. Charm bracelets are among our most requested bespoke commissions. If you are creating a bespoke bracelet or adding new charms, please allow up to 3 weeks for our workshop to attach the charms, balance the layout and complete the final polishing. Engraving or bespoke charms may take longer. If you cannot visit the boutique, we recommend getting in touch with our boutique team, so we can advise on placement and design.
Our bespoke process is thoughtful and collaborative: we begin with a conversation about the story you want to tell, refine charm choices or sketch new ideas, and arrange the layout for balance and movement. Each bracelet is then handcrafted in our London workshop.
