A Festive Series
Cassandra's Festive Wish List

Christmas has always been one of Cassandra’s favourite times of year. She loves the traditions that return each December, the rituals passed down through generations, and the small moments of beauty that make the season feel so special. From candlelit carols and festive tablescapes to thoughtful gifts and winter walks, these are some of the things she most looks forward to each Christmas.
Your most cherished Christmas tradition?
My husband grew up with Swedish Christmas traditions which we have incorporated into our family celebrations over the years. I know this sounds completely mad to most people, but in Sweden it is traditional to illuminate the Christmas tree with real candles... Fire safety aside, the beauty of it is incredible and worth the stress!
What signals the true start of the festive season for you?
I feel that Christmas starts earlier and earlier every year now! But in my opinion the festive season officially starts after I attend my first advent service. Nothing feels more festive than singing the time-honoured carols in an often freezing cold church.

A scent that instantly feels like Christmas?
I am a Diptyque obsessive and I look forward every year to receiving their limited-edition Sapin candle - it is the ultimate Christmas scent.
Brussels sprouts: yes please or no thanks?
Yes please! Aside from devils on horseback, they are the best part of Christmas lunch.
A Christmas gift you will never forget receiving?
My grandmother gave me a Singer sewing machine when I was 7 which I absolutely treasured. I spent hours experimenting with fabrics, zigzag scissors and all types of seams. Looking back, I think it was one of the first things that encouraged my love of craftsmanship and design.
Guilty pleasure Christmas song?
Handel’s Messiah, especially the Hallelujah Chorus. I know it is not exactly a ‘guilty pleasure’, but there is something completely irresistible about hearing it at full volume in a candlelit church at Christmas.
Your go to gift
Good quality olive oil. It is something everyone enjoys and appreciates, yet so often forgets to buy for themselves. I adore Citizens of Soil’s Greek olive oil, and their olive oil subscription is such a thoughtful gift, delivering different oils to your home throughout the year!

Something you would like to carry into the new year
This year I released my Gems booklet, which is my own take on a commonplace book. I so enjoyed collecting and sharing quotes, passages and sayings that moved me, and going into 2027 I would love to give myself more time to read, reflect and discover the intriguing voices of writers both the past and present.
The Cassandra Goad jewel on your wish list?
My Place des Vosges rings are absolutely divine. I’ve always been drawn to unexpected, playful gemstone pairings, and I love that the design feels both elegant and a little surprising in the best way.

Board games or post-lunch walk after Christmas lunch?
A post-lunch walk on Christmas day is exactly what you need! Nothing like a good brisk walk in the winter air to get the digestion going. But, of course, I would suggest coming back to a game of Outrage! by the fire.
The perfect practical gift for a stocking?
I can’t do practicality without beauty (I simply don’t believe in it!). So, for a practical stocking gift I like to give my St Anthony keychain (the saint of lost things). All of my children have one attached to their house keys and so far, nobody has lost them!
Your favourite way to give back during the festive season?
At Christmas, I always try to support charities that create moments of comfort and companionship for people who may be going through difficult times. Horatio’s Garden is particularly close to my heart for the incredible healing spaces they create within spinal injury centres.
I am also inspired by the spirit of resilience behind the Onwards Expedition. Henry Worsley, who attempted Shackleton’s unfinished Antarctic journey, signed his letters home ‘Onwards’. I created an Onwards Quote pendant and bracelet in his honour. This winter, Henry’s son Max will attempt the crossing, and all proceeds from the Onwards & Shackelton quote pendants and bracelets will go to the British Exploring Society and the Royal Foundation.

The perfect Cassandra Goad jewel for a Christmas party?
My Roi Soleil pendants are the most fabulous party jewels. Their colour and sparkle make them complete showstoppers. Currently I have been wearing my orange fire opal variety constantly, especially with a forest-green outfit for that delightful colour contrast!
