Within the temple, the Oracle of Delphi, known as Pythia, delivered prophecies believed to carry the voice of Apollo. From the 8th century BC onwards, kings, generals, and pilgrims travelled here, climbing the Sacred Way to seek guidance. Her words influenced decisions of great consequence. Ancient writers also described earlier prophetic figures, including the Erythraean Sibyl, who was said to have foretold the Trojan War. She warned that Helen would bring about the conflict and predicted that the Greeks would ultimately capture Troy. In this way, Delphi became a place where people came not only to ask questions, but to shape their future.

Today, the remaining columns still mark the site, standing where the temple once formed the spiritual centre of Delphi. And it is these columns that inspired Cassandra’s Delphi design, the rings’ subtle diamonds reflecting the sunlight that glitters through the grooves of the ancient stone.
