Adonis and Aphrodite surrounded by anemones

The Anemone: Daughter of the Wind

Cassandra’s Anemone design blossoms from a moment of wonder in the foothills of Mount Olympus, where she was captivated by the wild beauty of this delicate flower. In Ancient Greek, anemone translates to ‘daughter of the wind’, from ánemos (wind) and ṓnē (daughter of), a name that captures the flower’s lightness and its dance with the breeze.

The anemone’s story is rooted in Greek mythology, most famously in Ovid’s Metamorphoses. Adonis, the mortal beloved of the goddess Aphrodite, was fatally wounded by Ares who, consumed by jealousy, had taken the form of a wild boar. Finding him dying, Aphrodite wept over his body, and as her tears mingled with his blood, they soaked into the earth and gave birth to the crimson anemone. The flower’s brief bloom was said to mirror the fleeting nature of Adonis’s life, opening to the gentle touch of the wind before quickly fading away. For the ancients, the anemone became an emblem of rebirth and the unbreakable bond between mortal and divine.

Cassandra translates this rich symbolism into fine jewellery that feels effortlessly modern. The Anemone earrings and pendant, with their soft floral curves and radiant simplicity, embody the flower’s timeless grace. Light and versatile, they are designed to be worn every day as an homage to Greek spring breezes and to the eternal connection between nature, mythology and beauty.
