Qut'b Minar ring in 18ct white gold. One place I had struck off the list in Delhi was the Qut'b Minar, an Islamic building from 1199, but at the end of the first day I realised I had to visit it. The plethora of inspiration in the marble friezes was overwhelming.

Qut'b Minar

Upon the advice of my wonderful driver, Dilip, I went to Qut'b Minar. A tall brick minaret and part of an Islamic complex built in the 12th century by the second Dehli Sultan, Iltutmish. I traced up and down the loopings of the marble carving, realising the gold in my ring once scaled down, would only be the thickness of my pencil lines. So, I created a liner that fitted on the finger like a glove and gave depth to the design. Each ring has to be made individually each time to fit the wearer.

I created the cuff to be bold and strong, piercing out the intricate pattern in silver and gold out of thick sheet, turning it to fold round the wrist.

Craftsmanship and Sourcing

All Cassandra Goad jewellery is designed and made in the workshops in London.
As a gemmologist, the chemical composition and properties of gemstones have always fascinated Cassandra. Ever in search of the unusual and rare, she travels the world to source beautiful gemstones, either in the rough or cut form. The craftsman works as an artist recreating the design in metal, his interpretation is vital to the overall feel of the jewel. The jewel is then mounted, assayed , polished and set. Many of Cassandra's jewels can be hand engraved with a personal message to make a unique bespoke gift.
