Sicily intrigued me, the island that floats as tempting as a jewel in the centre of the Mediterranean. Shaped by waves of conquests and left tinted by the settlement of differing people's since the 8th century BC.
My own journey to China began in Oxfordshire, in a room at Broughton Castle, where butterflies dance on the 18th Century Chinese wallpaper.
Suzhou felt like stepping back in time. A hidden jewel just 40
minutes by bullet train from
Shanghai, Suzhou was always on my must-see site list.
A 50-minute train ride from the obscure city of Okayama in Southern Japan lies the best-kept secret of the art world: the Art Islands of Naoshima, Teshima and Inujima.
