The Naxos Apothecary: A wellness lab and fragrance house inspired by the Aegean
In a light-filled corner of central Athens, Naxos Apothecary merges island heritage, precious Greek herbs, the science of homeopathy, and statement design all in one space. Housed in the oldest herbal pharmacy in the city, it invites visitors to explore the secrets of herbs while introducing an enchanting product collection infused with extracts of Naxian origin.
The island becomes a point of reference, as various elements within the space ‘narrate’ the culture and history of the Cyclades. Organic herbs grow in planters named after some of the island’s most breathtaking villages, and the thoughtfully designed packaging pays tribute to the unique character of Naxos. Naxos Apothecary aspires to become a meeting point for health scientists, researchers, and organic farmers through a series of workshops and seminars dedicated to herbs, homeopathy, natural cosmetics, and nutrition.
Founded by Giorgios Korres, the creator of the well-known skincare brand, together with his brother Apostolos, Naxos Apothecary is another heartfelt tribute to the power of Greek herbs. This time, it feels even more personal - a true homage to the charm and spirit of the brothers’ home island.
As a designer, scientist and observer, Cassandra loved the sense of calm they’ve created in the midst of the busy city. On the ground floor, three dedicated laboratories for homeopathy, herbal cosmetics, and phytotherapy offer a window into the process behind the products. Upstairs, a herbal tea lounge and restaurant invite guests to linger longer, offering infusions and drinks rooted in ancient remedies, alongside distinctive Greek specialties.
The Naxos design is a great mix of clean lines and natural textures. Cassandra especially loved the use of amber glass - a warm, nostalgic touch that nods to old-world apothecaries while keeping the aesthetic fresh and modern.
