Small Porte Ouvrant (keyhole) necklace pendant with a swivelling door inside its door frame. Cassandra was inspired by the myriad stone doorways of Morocco revealing inner courtyards, and by the carved wooden doorways she discovered that open onto gardens of succulents where scented jasmines tumbled into mosaic fountains. The sense of the door swivelling seemed to her that it was revealing new vistas, new beginnings, the start of something new. From the journey to Morocco..
This pendant, including the loop, measures approximately 36x12mm.
All Cassandra Goad pendants are sold without chains so that you may select the chain of your choice, both in style and length. If you would like to add a chain have a look at our selection here.
As we start to emerge from Lockdown, this pendant feels amuletic in design with its opening door leading the wearer to new ways of thinking, new opportunities, new beginnings at the start of a new era. The beautiful key-hole outline shape of the Moorish doors always seems to invite one to look in, to enquire and to wonder. In the bustling Medina with my sketch book I imagined doorways with swivelling doors that would have differing decoration on each side of the door and through them I created new imaginary vistas. I have called it Porte Ouvrant because I like the French turn of phrase that suggests that the door is not just opened, but opening.
All Cassandra Goad Jewellery is designed and made in our workshops in London.
Ever in search of the unusual and rare, Cassandra travels the world to source beautiful gemstones, either in the rough or cut form.
The craftsman works as an artist recreating the design in metal. The jewel is then mounted, assayed, polished and set.
